1 O Christ of God who lived for me,
With joy I lift my voice to Thee,
And pray that Thou wouldst hear;
As Thou didst die upon the tree
To save my soul and make it free,
Be Thou my helper near.
2 And should I wander far from Thee
O’er desert wastes of land and sea,
Still be Thou at my side;
For kept by Thee I cannot stray,
Except to find a better way,
My Saviour, and my Guide.
3 And when my work on earth is o’er,
The sun has set to rise no more,
And night is sweeping by;
Then through the darkness I would see
Thy radiant face look down on me,
A beacon in the sky.
