1 Now be that sacrifice survey'd,
Which for our souls the Saviour made,
While love to sinners fir'd his heart,
And conquer'd all the killing smart.
2 Blest Jesus, while thy grace I sing,
What grateful tgribute shall I bring,
That earth and heav'n and all may see
My love to him, who died for me?
3 That off'ring, Lord, thy word hath taught;
Nor be thy new command forgot,
That, if their Master's death can move,
Thy servants should each other love.
4 When on the cross I fix mine eye,
Let ev'ry savage passion die;
And may I ever ready be
To serve, forgive, and love like thee.
