உம் கண்கள் காணும் எம் தேவை,
உம் கரம் ஈயுமே,

2 பயமும் பக்தியும் எம் நெஞ்சில்,
உம் அன்பு நடத்தவே,
வீண் மாயை யாவும் நீக்கியே,
எம் பயம் போக்குமே.

3 எம் ஆசையல்ல தேவையே,
உம் கிருபை தந்திடும்,
தயவாய் தெளிவாய் தாருமே,
தீமையன்றி நன்மை.ஆமேன்

Merrick, James , M.A., was born in 1720, and educated at Oxford, where he became a Fellow of Trinity College. He entered Holy Orders, but his health would not admit of parish work. He died at Reading, 1769. His publications include:— (1) Messiah, a Divine Essay. Humbly dedicated to the Reverend the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford and the Visitors of the Free School in Reading.
