Representative Text

1 Mighty are the hosts of evil,
Wildly they prevail,
On the law of God they trample,
And His truth assail.
Father, shall Thy kingdom falter?
Shall Thy purpose fail?

Refrain:
Saviour, onward lead Thy forces,
Now Thy work pursue;
Now revive their zeal and courage,
Now their hearts renew.

2 See Thy soldiers; some are resting
Not a care to know,
Some unmindful of the conflict,
Be it fierce or slow.
Others—but, alas! who knoweth,
Are they friend or foe? [Refrain]

3 Lord, array them in Thine armor
For the battle’s heat,
Make them ready for surprises,
Lurking foes to meet;
Let each stand at post of duty,
And forbid defeat. [Refrain]

4 When Thy forces are united,
All are loyal, true,
Then Thy foes shall join Thy foll’wers,
And Thy work pursue.
Saviour, wake our sleeping powers,
Rouse our zeal anew! [Refrain]
