Born: Circa 1835, Litchfield, New York. Died: August 30, 1901, at his son’s home in Newark, New York. He and his wife Jenette were killed in a train wreck on the Northern Central Railroad between Fairville and Zurich, New York. They had been returning home from a week’s outing at their summer cottage at Lake Bluff, Sodus Point, on Lake Ontario. Buried: Newark Cemetery, Newark, New York. Son of abolitionist Seth Burgess, Parke attended Hamilton College, and taught mathematics there for a while. He served at the East Mexico Presbyterian Church (Old Pratham), Oswego County, New York; in East Dennis, Massachusetts; Duxbury, Massachusetts.
