Representative Text

1. Lord, to you our souls are lifted;
O my God, in you we trust;
Let me not in shame be humbled,
Nor our foes exult o'er us.
Unto them no shame is known
Who are waiting for your blessing;
They are shamed and they alone,
Without cause your law transgressing.

2. Lord, your ways of love revealing,
All your paths make known to me;
In your truth direct our footsteps
And therein our Teacher be.
All day long for you we wait;
God our Savior, all adoring;
Former mercies, free and great,
Be remembered, we're imploring.

3. All my sins of youth forgetting,
Do not now their guilt record;
But remember us in mercy
For your goodness' sake, O Lord.
You are upright, good and kind,
Sinners in your way instructing,
And all those of lowly mind
In your righteous paths conducting.

4. All your paths are truth and kindness
For the saints who watch and wait.
For your name's sake grant us pardon.
For our sins are very great.
Unto those humble and wise
You will teach the way of blessing;
Happy days shall meet our eyes,
And our heirs the land possessing.
