Representative Text

1 Like as a father, God on His throne,
Cares for His children, guarding His own;
Shields from all danger, mighty His arm,
Knows every sorrow, keeps from all harm.

Refrain:
Like as a father, tender His care,
Blessings so boundless, ever, we share;
Doubts ne’er distress us, ears ne’er appal,
Like as a father, He guards us all.

2 Like as a father, God in His love,
Guides us forever, watching above;
Matchless His mercy, boundless his power,
Keeping in safety, through trial’s hour. [Refrain]

3 Like as a father, tender and strong,
His is the burden, ours is the song;
Mansions await us, built by His hand,
Soon in the homeland, joyous we’ll stand. [Refrain]
