For God Is Good

Representative Text

1. Life is not all a dreary road,
A way of thorns, and gloom and tears,
Travelled alone from day to day,
With none to help or calm our fears,

Chorus:
For God is good, and loves his child,
No need of ours but Father knows;
He counts our steps, prepares the way,
And loving care on us bestows.

2. Beside the thorn sweet roses bloom,
Behind the cloud the sun is seen;
So on our path rich blessings shine,
Tho' shadows seem to lie between. [Chorus]

3. We cannot falter but he knows,
Who notes the tiny sparrow's fall;
His ear is open to our cry,
When unto him for strength we call. [Chorus]

4. Then courage, fainting heart of mine,
Tho' hidden seems his face awhile;
Look up! the mists shall pass away;
Look up! and greet thy Father's smile. [Chorus]
