Representative Text

1 Knocking, knocking with pierced hands,
Waiting, waiting, the Savior stands;
I pray you, haste and let him in,
He waits to bear thy load of sin,
I pray you, haste and let him in,
He waits to bear thy load of sin.

2 Knocking, knocking I see him there,
Pleading, pleading, with patient care,
He waits for thee, thy soul to save;
His blood for thee he freely gave;
He waits for thee, thy soul to save;
His blood for thee he freely gave.

3 Knocking, knocking I hear him say,
“My child, my child be saved today!”
Oh do not, do not wait so long,
Give him thy heart ere he is gone,
Oh do not, do not wait so long,
Give him thy heart ere he is gone.

4 Knocking, knocking the angels wait
The news, the news, to heaven’s gate
Where ransomed souls forever sing,
The glories of our heavenly King,
Where ransomed souls forever sing,
The glories of our heavenly King.
