Representative Text

1 Jesus is the dearest, sweetest Friend I have,
For his love is deeper than the deepest sea;
He alone did die upon the cross for me,
He alone did pay my debt to set me free.

Refrain:
Jesus is the dearest, sweetest Friend I have,
Jesus is the dearest, sweetest Friend I have;
For he hears me when I call,
Gently lifts me when I fall;
He’s the dearest, sweetest Friend I have.

2 Jesus is the dearest, sweetest Friend I have,
For he pardoned all my sins so long ago;
With his blood he washed me whiter than the snow,
And he makes my heart with heaven’s joy to glow. [Refrain]

3 Jesus is the dearest, sweetest Friend I have,
For his mercies round me deep as water flow;
And his grace delivers as I upward go,
Thus our friendship every day doth sweeter grow. [Refrain]

4 Jesus is the dearest, sweetest Friend I have,
For when storms with all their dangers rage on high,
To his bosom he doth bid me quickly fly,
There enfolded in his arms, how safe am I! [Refrain]
