1 JEHOVAH, see my open heart,
if it is haughty grown;
Or if mine eyes are rais'd aloft,
unless to Thee alone;
If I in any things too great
and high for me aspire,
To exercise my self; or if
too high is my desire.

2 Or if I do not now compose
my soul to quiet rest,
Ev'n as a young and weaned child,
wean'd from the mother's breast.
