1 In thy holy place we bow,
perfumes sweet to heaven rise,
while our golden censers glow
with the fire of sacrifice.
Saints low bending, prayers ascending,
holy lips and hands implore,
faith believing and receiving
grace from thee whom we adore.

2 Holy light doth fill this place;
Spirit, light our way to guide.
In the presence of thy face,
sin’s deceptions ne’er can hide.
Heaven’s gleaming, fullness streaming,
life and truth for all are found;
light pervading, never fading,
lighting all the world around.

3 On thy holy bread we feed,
hunger never more to know.
Thou suppliest all our need;
Savior, whither shall we go?
Ne’er forsaking, here partaking
bread our souls to satisfy;
here abiding and confiding,
we shall never want nor die.

Born: June 11, 1872, Dale Enterprise, Rockingham County, Virginia. Died: June 28, 1954, Vineland, Ontario, Canada. Buried: First Mennonite Church, Vineland, Ontario, Canada. Coffman spent most of his school years in Elkhart County, Indiana, where his family had moved in 1879. He graduated from the Elkhart High School in 1890, and attended the Moody Bible Institute (1894-95 and for six months in 1897-98). From 1890-94, he worked for the Mennonite Publishing Company in Elkhart. He was converted at meetings held in Elkhart by his father, and was baptized on May 26, 1888.
