Peace, Rest and Power

1 In perfect peace Thou keepest him
Whose mind is stayed on Thee;
Whose hands are cleansed from outward sins,
Whose heart knows purity.
Who trusting in Thy faithful word,
Finds refuge and retreat,
A promise true, a sure reward,
A soul for heaven made meet.

Refrain:
Then I’ll trust Him, fully trust Him,
Day by day, and hour by hour.
Trust Him and receive the blessing,
Trust Him for the keeping power,
Trust Him when the skies are dark’ning,
Trust Him in the shining light.
Trust Him when my eyes behold Him,
Trust Him still tho’ lost to sight.

2 “Come unto Me,” said Jesus’ voice,
“And I will give you rest.”
Ye burdened, heavy-laden souls,
He knows and gives what’s best;
His easy yoke, and burden light,
Your weary heart may prove;
Bow down your neck, and learn of Him,
The rest of perfect love. [Refrain]

3 “Behold I send,” the Master said,
“A promise strong and true;”
But tarry ye, and wait the power
That cleanses thro’ and thro’;
Emptied of self, and filled with God,
With courage face the foe;
Into the world’s broad field go forth,
The seed of life to sow. [Refrain]
