Speak It for the Savior

If you have a kindly word

Author: James Rowe
Tune: [If you have a kindly word]
Published in 12 hymnals

Representative Text

1 If you have a kindly word,
Speak it for the Saviour;
Let its soothing notes be heard,
Speak it for the Saviour;
Here and there and ev’rywhere,
Hearts of grief, and pain, and care,
Hunger for its music rare,
Speak it for the Saviour.

Chorus:
Speak it for the Saviour,
Speak it for the Saviour;
If you have a kindly word,
Speak it for the Saviour.

2 If you have a word of cheer,
Speak it for the Saviour;
It will gladden some one’s ear,
Speak it for the Saviour;
There are weak ones in the throng,
Jeered and jostled by the strong,
Who have listened for it long,
Speak it for the Saviour. [Chorus]

3 If you have a word of love,
Speak it for the Saviour;
That some soul may look above,
Speak it for the Saviour;
To the wand’ring ones at night,
It will be a beacon bright,
Pointing to the Land of Light,
Speak it for the Saviour. [Chorus]
