1 I will follow Jesus in the narrow way,
By his grace will faithful be and will not stray;
I will leave this world of sin, with all vain show,
Walking in his footprints, I will forward go.

Deny thyself, take up thy cross,

2 Jesus left the glory of the upper world,
Self-denial’s banner he, himself, unfurled;
Honors, treasures, pleasures there he did forgo,
For reproach and dying in this world below. [Refrain]

3 I will follow Jesus, I will seek the lost,
Speaking words of comfort to the tempest-tossed;
I will seek to gladden ev’ry heart I meet;
O this blessed fellowship! It is so sweet. [Refrain]

4 By his grace I’ll follow him who did no sin,
By his blood and Spirit will be pure within;
I will suffer with him and will faithful be,
Working, waiting, watching till he comes for me. [Refrain]
