1 I tho’t I was too great a sinner when the Saviour called to me,
That His mercy could not reach me nor from sin could make me free;
But I found I was mistaken, for He died upon the tree
That He might redeem the sinner, even such an one as me.
Refrain:
Oh, I am so glad I found Him such an all-sufficient Friend,
And I want to ever love Him and to serve Him to the end.
2 I tho’t I was too great a sinner, I had wand’red far astray,
And my sins rose up as mountains and obscured the light of day;
All was dark, so dark before me, when there shone a lustrous ray
From the cross of my dear Saviour, and my burden rolled away. [Refrain]
3 I tho’t I was too great a sinner in His love to share a part,
And I almost feared to ask Him for a place in His dear heart,
But I found there room abundant, and a welcome kind and free,
And I lift my voice to praise Him for His wondrous grace to me. [Refrain]
