Representative Text

1 We thank you, Lord, for strength of arm
To win our bread,
And that, beyond our need, is meat
For friends unfed:
We thank you much for bread to live;
We thank you more for bread to give.

2 We thank you, Lord, for sheltered home
In cold and storm,
And that, beyond our need, is room
For friends forlorn:
We thank you much for place to rest,
But more for shelter for our guest.

3 We thank you, Lord, for lavish love
On us bestowed,
Enough to share with loveless folk
To ease their load:
Your love to us we ill could spare,
Yet dearer is your love we share.

Amen.
