Representative Text

1 I found myself a sinner vile,
A wand’rer far from home;
My heart was sad, my feet were lame,
And life was drear and lone;
I wondered whence my help would come
And who would comfort give;
A whisper came which gently said,
O child, look up and live.

Refrain:
Look up, look up;
O child, look up again,
For Jesus beckons from above;
O child, look up again.

2 I looked, and lo! most glorious sight,
I saw my Savior there.
Tho’ suff’ring all the pangs of sin,
My soul looked up in prayer.
I love my Savior, love Him dear,
But then I oft forget,
For sin enslaves and leads me on,
But Jesus watches yet. [Refrain]

3 E’en now, since I have seen my Lord,
I daily bow in shame;
But in my weakness and my sin,
I’ll look and call His name.
My soul in praises to that name
Will join in glad refrain;
I’ll flee to Jesus for my rest,
I’ll look and look again. [Refrain]
