1 I cannot change my sinful heart,
Nor make it pure and sweet,
But I can do what is my part:
Bring it to Jesus’ feet.

At Jesus’ blessèd feet,
My soul’s divine retreat,
I find the needed help each day
To walk the narrow way.

2 I cannot even half repent
Of deeds that have been wrong,
But I can turn about and leave
The path I’ve traveled long. [Refrain]

3 I cannot keep this newfound way
In my own human strength,
But I can trust in Him whose power
Will conquer sin at length. [Refrain]

4 I cannot bring my life to Christ
By my desires alone,
But I can tell my wish to God,
And bind it to His throne. [Refrain]

5 Perhaps I may not serve Him long,
My days may soon be done;
But I can give each day to Him
With every rising morn. [Refrain]
