Representative Text

1 Hearken now to the voice of the Spirit,
That is calling to life and light,
You have oft answered, no, to his pleading;
Oh, my brother, say, yes, tonight.

Refrain:
Answer, yes, yes, yes, to the Spirit;
Answer, yes, yes, yes, to the Spirit tonight.
Do not grieve him away and lose heaven for aye;
Answer, yes, to the Spirit tonight.

2 He is striving to lead you to Jesus,
No not longer his plea resist,
But tonight while to you he is speaking
In the service of Christ enlist. [Refrain]

3 He will give you a peace passing knowledge,
And a gladness untold bestow.
When so sweet are the joys that he offers,
Can you still to his call say, no? [Refrain]

4 Yield, oh, yield to the Spirit’s entreaty
And no longer God’s mercy slight;
As he asks you to turn to the Saviour,
Won’t you freely say, yes, tonight. [Refrain]
