Representative Text

1 Hear the voices calling o’er the stormy main;
“Send the light; send the light;”
There is life for sinners thro’ the Lamb once slain;
“Send the light; send the light.”
Send the light across the rolling tide,
Blessed word, “Salvation free;”
Let the name of Christ, the Crucified,
Light the world from sea to sea.

Refrain:
Tell the manger story which the angels sing;
“Send the light; send the light;”
Preach a risen Saviour and a coming King;
“Send the light; send the light.”

2 In our own fair country there are homes of night;
“Send the light; send the light;”
‘Tis the word of Jesus gives the blind eyes sight;
“Send the light; send the light.”
Send the light to every darkened home,
Raise the sick and cheer the sad;
Gather in the homeless ones who roam,
Let the poor be fed and clad. [Refrain]

3 Bring your shining treasure, lay it at the cross;
“Send the light; send the light;”
Find eternal riches for a moment’s loss;
“Send the light; send the light.”
Send the light the jewels must be found,
This shall be our glad employ;
They shall shine in King Immanuel’s crown,
We shall share his holy joy. [Refrain]
