Representative Text

1. Have you heard the gospel story,
How the great Redeemer came
From His home in realms of glory,
To this world of sin and shame.
To be cradled in a manger,
To be humbled, oh, so low,
E'en to be a wand'ring stranger,
As He journey'd to and fro?
E'en to be a wand'ring stranger,
As He journey'd to and fro?

2. How He scatter'd peace and blessing,
To the needy, rich or poor?
All who came His name confessing,
Were of His acceptance sure.
Wondrous being! loving Saviour!
Dearer than each earthly friend;
On His foes bestowing favor,
How could He so condescend?
On His foes bestowing favor,
How could He so condescend?

3. How He languished in the garden,
And to Pilate's hall was led,
And at last to seal our pardon,
On the cruel cross He bled?
Now in Heav'n He's interceding,
At the glory throne for thee,
While the Spirit, gently pleading,
Whispers, "Lost one, come to me."
While the Spirit, gently pleading,
Whispers, "Lost one, come to me."

4. Yes, the Lord of all creation
Calls you now to be His son;
Heed the precious invitation,
Oh, accept the gracious One
Who but waits to grant salvation
Friendless soul, there's refuge nigh;
Haste! escape thy condemnation,
Why, O lost one, will you die?
Haste! escape thy condemnation,
Why, O lost one, will you die?
