1 Hark! the voice of Jesus, pleading
From the Cross of Calvary;
Scourged and pierced, His body bleeding,
“Why hast thou forsaken me?”
All alone the wine-press treading,
Jesus died for you and me;
Wrath of God, on Him descending,
He, our ransom, sets us free.
Refrain:
He is pleading, He is praying,
From the cross of Calvary,
That His sacrifice may save you,
Heed His voice, He’ll set you free.
2 Hark the voice of Jesus, praying
“Father, pity and forgive!”
He has giv’n His life to save you,
Dying sinner, look and live;
He has poured a full libation,
From His wounded hands and side,
Sacrifice for free salvation,
Flows for all, in crimson tide. [Refrain]
3 Heed the voice of Jesus, saying
“It is finished”—all may live;
Still He’s pleading, He is praying,
That the Father may forgive;
Jesus’ voice, from Calv’ry sounding,
Down the ages, offers free,
Pardon, peace, and life abounding,
Take the gift He offers thee. [Refrain]
