Guarda, Quanto Falta?

Guarda, dize quanto falta Para o dia alvorecer?

Author: Sidney S. Brewer
Tune: [I am dwelling on the mountain] (Dadmun)
Published in 1 hymnal

Representative Text

1. Guarda, dize quanto falta
Para o dia alvorecer?
Vai a noite ainda alta
Ou já vem o amanhecer?
Peregrino, sim, desperta,
Volve os olhos para além!
Veste os trajes, põe-te alerta,
Eia, pois, que o Sol já vem!

2. Guarda, as luzes alumiam
Teu caminho mais e mais;
Os indícios prenunciam
Que, avançado, o tempo vai.
Logo os santos falecidos,
Imortais, ressurgirão,
Ao soar aos seus ouvidos
O clarim da redenção.

3. Guarda, vê a terra linda:
Frutos, flores sem rival;
Vê o Rei em glória infinda,
Vê o rio, qual cristal.
Ouve as harpas — que harmonia!
Ouve as hostes a cantar!
Peregrino, que alegria!
Vais, em breve, para o lar!
