Representative Text

1 Gospel bells are sounding, ringing, ringing,
Tell of joy abounding, herald happy days;
Far and wide the cadence floats,
Wake, O world, and list their notes,
Far and wide resounding, bells of praise.

Refrain:
Echo now your tuneful numbers, O ye bells!
Wake the world from careless slumbers, O ye bells!
Tidings glad repeating,
Golden moments greeting,
Ring ye, ring y, gospel bells.

2 Gospel bells are sounding, ringing, ringing,
List the cadence falling, hope has no alloy;
O’er the town and o’er the field,
Love of God is now revealed,
Ring with notes enthralling, bells of joy. [Refrain]

3 Gospel bells are sounding, ringing, ringing,
Joy, all joy excelling, nevermore can cease;
O’er the meadows, o’er the hills,
List, the cheerful cadence thrills,
Echoes now are swelling, bells of peace. [Refrain]
