God of our Fatherland. Bp. E. H. Bickersteth. [National Hymn.] Written in 1883, and published in his “From Year to Year”, 1883, p. 231, in 4 stanzas of 4 lines. It was included in the Hymnal Companion, 1890. In the Jubilee year of the Queen (1887) it was extensively sung to the tune composed for it by Sir George Elvey.
