God of Every Generation

God of every generation,
past and present, yet to come,
Jesus Christ our Friend and Savior,
Spirit holy, Three in One,
Love eternal, loyal Presence,
Source of faith that we embrace,
we rejoice that you have called us
to be agents of your grace.

As you led the saints before us
who built up the church we know,
guide us in our sacred mission,
make us faithful, help us grow.
Let our worship and our teaching,
music that we sing and play,
all proclaim the love of Jesus,
and the Gospel for today.

Bless us in our life together,
men and women, young and old,
friendly neighbors, lonely strangers,
weak and weary, brave and bold.
As we seek to follow Jesus,
side by side and hand in hand,
gift us with your Holy Spirit,
help us live by love's command.

When we leave this house of worship,
may we each go out to serve,
treating all we meet with justice,
and respect that they deserve.
In the poor, outcast, and needy,
may we see our Savior's face,
and with kindness, hope, and friendship,
gather them in love's embrace.
