Representative Text

1 Far and wide is ringing
Sound of angel singing—
“Come and be a worker on the Lord’s estate today;
Come! the Master needs you,
Come where duty leads you,
Come and help us reap and bear the golden grain away.”

Chorus:
Seek and find the grain to bind,
Seek and find the grain to bind,
Faithful to the Master of the harvest ever be;
Bring home sheaves instead of leaves,
Bring homes sheaves instead of leaves,
Saying, “Lord I bound them all for love of thee.”

2 “Come,” the Master’s calling,
“Soon will night be falling
And the time for reaping of life’s golden grain be past;
Seek the wheat-fields yonder,
And no longer squander
Precious time in dreams that end in vain regret at last.” [Chorus]

3 Join the reapers’ chorus:
“Work for God’s before us—
Come and be a gleaner in his harvest while you may;
Read the grain and bind it,
Anywhere you find it,
Bring sheaves at nightfall, singing songs along the way.” [Chorus]
