Representative Text

1 Faithful is he, and great his mercies are,
Lasting is his love, lasting is his love;
All thro’ his word his promises declare,
His love shall never move.

Refrain:
’Tis love, ’tis love, redeeming love,
’Tis love that ever will abide,
’Tis love that knows no ebb nor flow,
’Tis love that opened wide a crimson tide,
That washes white as snow.

2 Love found a way to rescue fallen man,
Love so full and free, love so full and free
’Twas love that formed and carried on the plan,
And sent my Lord to me. [Refrain]

3 “Love is the chain, the golden chain that binds,
Happy souls above, happy souls above;
He is an heir of heav’n indeed who finds,
His bosom glow with love.” [Refrain]

At first he furnished compositions to the Hall-Mack Publishing Company, but soon became editor and manager, where he worked for 37 years. He felt he was serving God better in the gospel song writing business, than as a pharmacist. He published the following song books: “New songs of the gospel” (1900), “The service of praise” (1900), “The voice of praise” (1904), “The tribute of song” (1904), “New songs of the gospel… Go to person page >
