1 Ev'ry day the Savior
Sends me blessings new;
Ev'ry day He cheers me
With His promise true;
Ev'ry day He guides me,
Lest my feet should stray,
As I follow Jesus
Ev'ry day.
Chorus:
Ev'ry day His blessings new
Fall around me like the dew;
Ev'ry day the Savior gives to me
On life's way the victory;
So along my pilgrim way
I will serve Him ev'ry day.
2 Ev'ry day His gladness
Fills and thrills my soul,
When I let the Savior
Have complete control;
So my heart is ringing
With its sweetest lay,
And its tributes bringing
Ev'ry day. [Chorus]
3 Ev'ry day for Jesus,
This my song shall be;
Ev'ry day for Jesus,
Who has ransomed me;
Working for the Master
All along the way,
I will live for Jesus
Ev'ry day. [Chorus]
William C. Poole was born and raised on a farm in Maryland. His parents belonged to the Methodist church. He graduated from Washington College and became a Methodist minister in Wilmington, Delaware area. He was pastor of McCabe Memorial, Richardson Park and other churches. In 1913 he was superintendent of the Anti-Saloon League of Delaware. He wrote about five hundred hymns. The writing was done as recreation and a diversion from his pastoral work. His goal in writing as well as in being a minister was to help people.
