Eternity! eternity! How vast, yet near eternity. A. T. Russell. [Eternal Life contemplated.] Appeared in his Psalms & Hymns, 1851, No. 259, in 5 stanzas of 7 lines. In the index it is marked as original, but it is in the metre and set to the melody of "O Ewigkeit" (q.v.). It is suggested by the German but cannot be called a translation of it. It is included (generally from the altered text in Kennedy, 1863, No. 163) in the Ibrox Hymnal, 1871, Snepp's Songs of Grace & Glory, 1872, No. 1021 (where the ascription to "Daniel Wulffer, 1660, (translation) F. E. Cox, 1841," is an error), J. L. Porter's Collection, 1876, &c.; and in America in the Sabbath Hymn Book, 1858, College Hymnal, 1876, &c. [Rev. James Mearns, M.A.]
