Böhmer, Maria Magdalena, sister of J. H. Böhmer was born at Hannover, where she died, unmarried, in 1743 or 1741 (Koch, iv. 373; Bode, p. 47). She contributed two hymns (Nos. 655, 660) to Freylinghausen's Gesang-Buch, 1704; while one (No. 430) in his Neues Geistreiches Gesang-Buch, 1714, and four (Nos. 188,193,194,582) in the NeueSammlung, Wernigerode, 1752, are also ascribed to her. The only hymn by her translated into English is— Eins Christen Herz. Eins Christen Herz. [Longing for Heaven.] First published as No. 655 in Freylinghausen's Gesang-Buch, 1704, in 6 stanzas of 6 lines, repeated as No. 701 in the Berlin Geistliche Liedersegen, edition 1863. It is translated as:—
Regardless now of things below. A very free translation by J. Wesley in Stored Poems, 1740 (P. Works, 1868-72, vol. i. p. 222), in 4 stanzas.
