1 Down the ranks of the saved send the rousing call,
Christ for the world! Christ for the world!
As He died for the few, so He died for all—
"Christ for the world!" we sing.
By the sign of the cross we must self o’erthrow;
By the sign of the cross we must onward go;
By the sign of the cross we His power must show—
"Christ for the world!" we sing.

2 To the regions beyond let His armies move—
Christ for the world! Christ for the world!
That the nations in darkness His love may prove—
"Christ for the world!" we sing.
By the sign of the cross we must enter in,
By the sign of the cross we must war and win,
By the sign of the cross we must conquer sin—
"Christ for the world!" we sing.

3 To the ends of the earth let the call resound—
Christ for the world! Christ for the world!
That His praise may be spoken the world around—
"Christ for the world!" we sing.
By the power of the cross shall the world be swayed;
In the love of the cross all its ills be stayed;
In the light of the cross all its false lights fade—
"Christ for the world!" we sing.

Fillmore wrote to her asking her to write some hymns for a book he was publishing. She then regularly wrote hymns for Fillmore Brothers. She worked as an editor with Standard Publishing Company in Cincinnati from 1885 to 1896, when she married Rev. John E. Pounds, who at that time was a pastor of the Central Christian Church in Indianapolis. A memorab… Go to person page >
