1 Divina Luz, con tu esplendor benigno,
Guarda mi pie;
Densa es la noche y áspero el camino;
Mi guía se.
Harto distante de mi hogar estoy;
Que al dulce hogar de las alturas voy.
2 Amargos tiempos hubo en que tu gracia
No suplique;
De mi valor fiando en la eficacia,
No tuve fe.
Más hoy deploro aquella ceguedad;
Préstame oh Luz, tu grata claridad.
3 Guiando tú, la noche es esplendente,
Y cruzare
El valle, el monte, el risco y el torrente,
Con firme pie,
Hasta que empiece el día a despuntar,
Y entre al abrigo de mi dulce hogar.

Taking Holy Orders in 1824, he was for a short time Vice-Principal of St. Alban's Hall, and then Tutor of Oriel. His appointment to St. Mary's, Oxford, was in the spring of… Go to person page >
