Representative Text

1 Csüggedt, fáradt, terhelt lény,
Ki oly távol kóborolsz,
Tudd meg, hogy még van remény,
Jézus hív! Mit válaszolsz?
Jézus hív és nyugtot ád,
Béke hatja szíved át!

2 Bármit rejt is tegnapod,
Benne minden újjá lesz.
Bízd csak rá a holnapot:
Megváltottak része ez!
Mérhetetlen üdvösség,
El nem múló békesség!

3 Hidd, ó hidd az Úr szavát:
Tárva szíve ajtaja!
Érted küldte szent Fiát,
Egyre hangzik hívása.
Benne lesz új életed,
És a menny már itt tied!

4 Terve megmentésünkre:
Üdv, mely senkit ki nem zár.
Ősi, hű ígérete
Minden megtérőre vár.
Áldunk Téged, Istenünk—
Krisztus üdvünk, életünk!

In 1726 Charles Wesley was elected to a Westminster studentship at Christ Church, Oxford, where he took his degree in 1729, and became a college tutor.
