عصفت في البحر ريح

1 - عصفتْ في البحرِ ريحٌ
وغَدونا في خطرْ
وظلامُ الليلِ يغشانا
فأَزِلْ عنا الضَّررْ
ربِّ ندعـوكَ أجبنا
تَتوالى الكُروبْ
وأغثنا يا ملاذاً يُرْجى
في البلايا والخطوبْ

القرار
مُـرِ الريحَ والبحرَ يسكنانْ
يسكُنانْ
على الشط نرسو آمنينْ
لا نغرقُ والربُّ في السَّفينْ
بأمرهِ ولىّ جندُ الحِمامْ
وزالَ العنا وانتفَى الظلامْ
طوعاً لأمرهِ فالبحارْ
ساكتهْ - هادئهْ
فمعكَ نبلغُ يا يسوعْ
أسنى الربوعْ

2 - فانتَشِلْنا يا منجي
نحنُ بالخوفِ نَنُوءْ
ها نفوسٌ في البلى غرقَى
نَجِّها من كلِّ سوءْ
إننا يا ربُّ نهلكْ
فافدِنا يا مُعينْ
وانتهرِ نَوْءَ البُحورِ حالاً
رَحْمةً بالمؤمنينْ

3 - أنتَ بددتَ المخاوفْ
فانجَلى الوجهُ العبوسْ
شَعَّتِ الأنوارُ في الكونِ
منك يا شمسَ الشموسْ
وَفِّقِ السَّفْرَ وقُدنا
يا ربَّنا الرَّحيمْ
وأجِزْنا سالمينَ حتى
نلتقي ضِمنَ النعيمْ

Baker, Mary A.. Miss Baker, who is a member of the Baptist denomination, and a resident in Chicago, Illinois, is an active worker in the temperance cause, and the author of various hymns and temperance songs.    Her most popular hymn:-— 1. Master, the tempest is raging, Peace, was written in 1874 at the request of Dr. H. R. Palmer, who desired of her several songs on the subjects of a series of Sunday School Lessons for that year. Its theme is "Christ stilling the tempest."   During the same year it was set to music by Dr. Palmer, and pub. in his Songs of Love for the Bible School, 1874.
