This hymn by Thomas Spurgeon references his father’s book, All of Grace: An Earnest Word with Those Who Are Seeking Salvation by the Lord Jesus Christ (1886); the hymn was quoted in turn by his father in a sermon at Metropolitan Tabernacle in 1887 (Vol. 33, No. 1953) and printed in the Supplement to Our Own Hymn Book (1898), where it was dated 1886.
