This eloquent Christmas hymn presents us with a perfect marriage of text and tune. This setting seeks to amplify the rich emotional qualities of Jaroslav Vajda's text by use of a vibrant harmonic palette and inclusion of the oboe as an integral contrapuntal voice. The extremes of register into which both the oboist and keyboardist are asked to venture testify to the height, depth, and breadth of God's love, brought to us in human form that chosen night. This anthem can be sung either by choir alone as a unison anthem, or by the congregation as a hymn. Based on the tune SCHNEIDER by Paul Manz.
