The celebrated 17th century English author John Milton is known primarily for his later-career epic poetry. This paraphrase of Psalm 139:1-12, however, is one of his earliest documented works-composed when the poet was only 15 years old. Here it is paired with Tender Thought, from the American folk tradition. This choral setting integrates much freely-composed material to prominently feature the violin and piano duo.
