This text is based on the Lord’s Prayer and is especially appropriate for any Sunday on which the readings speak about the importance of prayer. The tune is from a 1592 British psalter and is here skillfully arranged for SATB voices in six stanzas, with the assembly (presumably having learned the tune at that point) joining on the last. If the congregation will not be asked to join in the final unison stanza, there is an alternate choral stanza 6.
