The grand and glorious Holy, Holy, Holy is a towering hymn of faith and receives a fresh and powerful treatment in this new arrangement, suitable for general or Easter use. Satisfying harmonizations and subtle text painting ensure a meaningful presentation for performers and congregation alike. The fanfare opening introduces joyful choral declamations of "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord! which lead into a full and textured presentation of the first verse with optional congregational singing. The introductory choral figures return as a transition into the second verse, featuring unison men on the melody and richly-textured women's responses. The third verse text is set in high relief by dropping out the accompaniment and leaving the a cappella voices in a beautiful and expressive harmonization. The accompaniment re-enters and builds mightily into the final verse for unison voices (including congregation) and a brilliant soprano descant. A triumphant coda features full divisi chorus adding alleluias before the conclusive "Holy is the Lord!" Two accompaniment versions are available in addition to keyboard alone: a version for keyboard, brass quintet, and timpani, and a version for full orchestra. Congregation sings from the hymnal.
