Weidemeyer, John W. Born at Fredericksburg, Virginia, and was of German parentage. He lived mostly in New York City, Brooklyn, and vicinity. When a boy, he wrote anonymously for Horace Greeley's New Yorker, and later contributed poems to various periodicals. In 1865 he published a collection of poems, entitled Real and Ideal and other volumes.
