Full Name: Taylor, Bayard, 1825-1878

Taylor, Bayard, the well-known American author, was born at Kennett Square, Chester Co., Penn., Jan. 11, 1825, and died at Berlin, whilst U.S. Minister to Germany, Dec. 19, 1878. His association with hymnody is very slight, consisting only of a few pieces from his Poet's Journal, &c. These include, "Thou sendest sun, Thou sendest rain"; "God, to Whom we look up blindly," in Horder's Treasury of American Sacred Song, 1900; and "Not so in haste, my heart," in The Pilgrim Hymnal, Boston, 1901.
