Scrimger, John. (Waterloo Co., Ontario, February 10, 1849--August 6, 1915, Bic, Quebec). Presbyterian. University of Toronto, M.A., 1870; theological study at Knox College, Toronto. Pastorate at Montreal, 1873-1882, combined with lectureship in exegesis at Presbyterian College; professor of Greek and Hebrew exegesis, 1882-1904; principal, and professor of systematic theology, 1904-1915. He served in the denomination's hymnal committee, 1894-1915, being involved in the preparation of the 1897 and 1918 Books of Praise; to the latter he contributed a metrical version of Psalm 15.
