Boye, Nicolaus, was born at Wesslensbürn, or Weslingburen, in Holstein, where he became an Evangelical Preacher, and where he died 1542. (Koch, i. 418; ii. 478; Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie, iii. 85.) The only hymn known as his is:—
O Gott, wir danken deiner Güt. [Grace after Meat]. First published in Low German in the Geystlike leder un Psalmen, Magdeburg, 1541, and in High German in the Bonn Gesang-Buch, 15C4. Both forms are in Wackernagel, iii. p. 902, in 3 stanzas of 7 lines. It was translated as "We thank the God, of thy gudnes," in the Gude and Godly Ballates (edition 1567-68, folio 11), edition 1868, p. 18. [Rev. James Mearns, M.A.]
