Richard Boggett

Richard Boggett was born at Kippax, Yorkshire. He was a corn miller by trade, though he also turned his hand to farming. His taste for music soon brought him into notice, and, though self-taught, he became well known both for playing and composing. He published his tunes under the name An Original Set of Psalm and Hymn Tunes. Few of these are known outside his own district save two, 'Dawson's Adie' and 'Eccles.' Boggett was choirmaster at the Wesleyan chapel at Kippax, also took an active share in the various departments of church work.
