Wife of Ford Lewis Battles. She graduated from Tuft's University and earned a Master's degree from Fletcher school of Law and Diplomacy. She specialized in the human rights of prisoner's of war at the close of World War II. She participated in the International Communities of Calvin Scholars and was a pianist.
