Herbert S. Auerbach (1882–1945) was a prominent Jewish businessman in Salt Lake City and also a member of the Utah House of Representatives. He was manager of the Auerbach Company, a department store in Salt Lake City, where he was born. In addition, he was a mining engineer, real estate developer, and composer. He wrote more than 200 songs. Three of his songs are included in Church of the Latter Day Saints hymnals. Although Auerbach was not a member, he was a lifelong friend of the Church.
