Some hymns have first lines that are the same as other hymns. Therefore, a qualifier needs to be added to the first line so editors can attach the correct hymn and so that users can find what they are looking for. This is particularly true for psalm texts. The United Presbyterian/PCUSA text is a metrical psalm. We could add the first part of the second line to this one (for_a) but, here is also a chant that begins “What shall I render to the Lord, For all his benefits to me”. Chants and Metrical psalms are completely different texts so we want to keep them as separate records. What would be your solution?
As for the NKJV text, it looks like the second line is actually “Oh what shall I render to the Lord” so I will edit this one.
I think if I were doing it I'd rather use “UPC/PCUSA” than “United Presbyterian/PCUSA”, but I get the need for something recognizable. And when I wrote “moresp” I intended to write “moreso”…
