Incipit format

I have a general question and a specific question about incipits.

First, I added to the wiki page (http://www.hymnary.org/wiki/Incipit) to be more specific about format based on the information I could find. Can someone confirm that that is the intended format?

Second, when adding a tune to a hymn (URL ending */tune/add), the incipit field is limited to a length of 20 characters. I thought I should add e.g. 11D5U12 D55U3(2)3 43(2)11 for ADESTE FIDELIS, but being longer than 20 characters it cannot be completely entered in the field. Is that the correct incipit?

Your revisions looked fine. I did a little editing. The program inserts spaces, so when an incipit is entered it should entered without spaces. The first part of the incipit is enough to identify the tune so we do not need to enter the entire tune, as is done in the Hymn Tune Index. I use the Hymn Tune Index format and use the entire 20 characters, since the tune often has D's, U's and () as well as numbers. I almost always enter the incipit in the tune authority rather than in the instances, unless an instance is a significant variation.

For ADESTE FIDELIS, the typical tune would have the incipit 11D5U1 2D5U323 432(1)1.
